From 01 April 2010 the Government of Bangladesh has introduced Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and Machine Readable Visa (MRV). Application for MRP can only be made in ten designated regional passport offices in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chittagong, Sylhet, Comilla, Rajshahi, Barishal, Rangpur, Jessore and Gopalgonj. The application forms are available in the website: http://www.dip.gov.bd/.

 

However, until 31 March 2013, all Bangladesh Embassies and High Commissions abroad will issue the traditional hand written Emergency Passports. These Passports will be issued with only one-year (01 year) validity from the date of issue.

 

Besides, in case of the present passports (with validly of 5/10 years) that has expired on 31 March 2010, they can also be renewed from all Bangladesh Embassies and High Commissions abroad until 31 March 2013.

Bangladesh High Embassies/High Commissions will continue to issue hand written Emergency Passports until 31 March 2013. The validity of such Passports will be until 31 March 2011.

 

 The Passports which will complete validity (5/10 years) on 31 March 2010, will be renewed/extended upto 31 March 2013 by the Bangladesh Embassies/High Commissions.
